Please excuse me but I am new to forums - photos are not my cup of tea - I am learning though.... I have some photos on my album. Not sure which is the date code, but on one of the rims (stamped)AA0887 the other (stamped)AA2187? I have pics of interior of wheels - some codes are stamped and others case into the rim. I will try to put pics on ASAP! these are small

Great looking wheels. I'd love to have them.

Welcome to the forum!

They look like 88 Prototype wheels. The dates are on the inside of the rim, and would be parallel to the ground if mounted on the car.

On an 1989 Pilot/Unreleased ZR-1 the date code looks like this:

On an 1988 Protoype wheel the date will look like this:

It looks like the dates are on his sheels. The AA is most likely SHIFT. The dates follow the shift.

What do you think, Eric?

Could be AA2187... So 21, 21st day? or 21st week? or Feb 1?

That could be just for the center section... I think the completed unit date is the one I listed above.

I would say probably Feb 1 1987.

Re: 88 ZR1 EX5023 Thread

Thank you for all the input! My rims have no DOT stamps - only the back side of face have casting marks and stamp marks - Looks like the pics you show are the production ready 3 piece rim welded behind the face of the rim - the ones I found are one piece . They have a machine outer face - inside face looks cast - rest of the rim is machined maybe out of one piece - I was going to refinish and put them on my 88, but am wondering without DOT stamps it might not be the best idea? Not only that but these could have a very interesting history!

Being that I have an actual 88, I would be interested in them if you were ever to sell them. I have a pair of 11" 89 pre-production wheels that I would trade you for them.

Heres the question, whats the market price for these wheels, pre-production 89 on ebay (1) 17X11 is $575.00 plus shipping.
