GS90 by Dick Guldstrand

This car appeared at the "Legend Lives" event at the NCM in April 1995:

It looks like it's still in Dick's shop ...

Love the line we made " a small fortune making a few custom cars, meaning we started with a large fortune that was turned into a smaller fortune".

I think so - one was brought to the April 1995 NCM Gathering with sales information but since I had just bought the turq, I was not in the market anymore so I do not know the target pricing.

And the 190 MPH top speed might have been due to the sleeker body and some basic early engine mods - extrude honing of the plenum was about all folks were doing at the time.

In 1992 Doug Rippie was speaking with Mercruiser about doing the 475hp LT5 "Black Widows". Cams, calibration, porting and Extrude honing were around at this time..

The GS90 was ready for MY 1994, but GM had known for a while now that ZR-1 was dead. The GS90 had a 475hp rating I speculate that these 6 LT5 engines got the typical "Black Widow" treatment from Mercruiser, minus the black powedercoat.

Mr Gulstrand was planning a Roadster, Speedster and lightweight versions of the GS90 to be sold through Chevrolet dealers, a-la Callaway "B2K" but GM nixxed the idea, not wanting to draw ANY attention to the ZR-1. Amazing what a few years does isnt it?

The GS90 cost $134,500 over the price of a $72,208 ZR-1, for a total of $206,208. As a result, only six GS90s (Coupe and Roadster) were built and sold.

Cool video.

a propane powered GS90 I believe was built as well. nice cars, not my style, as the C4 body looks pretty good to me but goldie for sure knows how to make em go.

I see them pop up every now and then, but not typically for sale. anyone know someone who has one??

Love it, love it, love it.

While at BG C4/ZR-1 gathering, I commented to JVD how much I liked the GS90, he shared some unusual stories and pics about the GS90.

Love it, love it, love it

Ken Lingenfelter has two GS 90's, I believe. A black ZR-1 based car, and also a blue convertible. ....This from memory in looking at his site a while ago.
