Winter projects
1993 #135 in now off the road for the winter. The project list is:
+) F/R wheel bearing/hubs (completed, AC Delco golds used as replacements) +) Pinion seal replacement +) Steering column pivot pin replacement So one project checked off the list and a couple more to go. Before removing the old bearing/hubs I measured deflection at the wheel rim lip. All 4 had noticeable deflections when off the ground and moved by hand. Ranged from 0.025? to 0.040?. One rear came apart when removed from the knuckle. Not sure all 4 are the originals, but now all are fresh. Brian |

Re: Winter projects
Maybe this will be the year that I pull the Bose
head unit and send it to Dr Don to fix the CD player? I've threatened to do this every Winter for the 15 years I've owned the car! I normally listen to the AM news station, so it really hasn't been a problem..... |

Re: Winter projects
Seems #10 has a magical attraction to it as a similar item is on my list, too [emoji6]
However, as I had to replace all suspension bushings, rear wheel bearings, front tie rod ends, all ignition coils, front left Bose amp and battery this year and did the heater core end of '22 my ZR is looking forward to a relaxing winter with no projects. It's nice when things just work, and I don't want to jeopardize this great feeling I'll focus on the older Audi unicorn I acquired some months ago. This thing needs a lot of attention - and hard work - to become what it deserves to be. Drinks and cigars included |
Re: Winter projects
My projects for the '91 ZR-1:
1) replace the battery 2) drive the car 3) drive the car some more 4) drive the car even more 5) re-fill the gas tank, drive some more My garage expansion is making progress so this will help facilitate having all the cars "jump in and go" ready so that any good morning I have the opportunity to drive I can just gooooo.. |
