Redline Water Wetter
 

For those of you who are looking to reduce engine temperatures, I can recommend using Water Wetter(link below). I added it to my existing cooling system with a mix of water/coolant and noticed a drop in temperature. I intend on draining the system and running only water with Water Wetter to see if the results are as dramatic as the company claims in their demo add.

The bottom line is that it does work and is an inexpensive way to keep your engine cooler. :thumbsup:

Make sure you are using distilled water. Otherwise, I use RLWW as well.

I spoke with a rep at Redline (Dave) and asked about their warning regarding using 100% water in non race applications. Otherwise they recommend using 15% antifreeze in street cars running air conditioning. The reason for this is minor and related to the heater core not being able to instantly react to a potential temperature adjustment by the driver. It will not freeze up, but if you suddenly wanted to raise the temperature of the cabin the heater core might not respond as quickly as someone mighty like. So for those of us in southern climates who keep the a/c temperature turned down to the max, there are no worries. I imagine that during our winters we might not get the temperature as warm as we would like, but how often is that a problem? ;)

I have used WW for years in all my vehicles, I add a bottle every 2 years when I replace fluids.

I just added RLWW to my cooling system when I did a complete drain and flush a week ago. I noticed temps dropped a bit from where they were before, but I'm not sure if that's all because of the WW, or some of the other things I did. I removed and cleaned the radiator, replaced the thermostat too.

A few of the bikes in the garage are now running distilled water/WW only (no anti-freeze). The trackday organizations I've ridden with require it for some, if not all of the riding classes. If someone goes down and spills regular coolant, it's a huge mess to clean up and it has the potential to cause other riders to go down. I don't worry too much about them freezing up in winter, my garage has a furnace :D Another benefit of pure distilled water with WW is the temps run even lower. I saw a 20 degree difference after switching to water/WW on my CBR when pulling back into the pit area.

It sounds like some of the other things you did could also be responsible, but since we know WW works, it surely had something to do with the temp drop as well.

I heard that LT5 heads gaskets arevery picky about coolant ran in the motor, does water wetter or runnin only distilled water have ill effect on them

Hello and welcome to the forum.:handshak:

I think you might be referring to using Dexcool which has been known to have caused trouble with some engine components.
Running only distilled water in your system should not be done as it does not have any anti corrosive properties nor does it have a water pump lubricant. Waterwetter has all that so you could get away with just using it with distilled water, though I would recommend using some anti freeze as well.
