Boy I sure second that thought! No passengers should ever be allowed in such a race. 1,750 HP? And note that while part of the roll bar protected them, the center of it is completely collapsed. I would sure have a chat with the manufacturer of the roll bar. --Bob

I'd say, not so much the fault of the roll bar manufacturer, but more so the wrong type for that type of racing/car. That's more of an autocross, low speed roll over protection.

In our SCCA road racing, we can't race with a roll cage like that, even with a 100 hp car. That hoop failed because it doesn't even have a diagonal bar.

I had to watch the whole video just to be able to tell what kind of car it was (Camaro).

The associated drone video is scary. The motorcycle in the other lane could've been involved with a little more bad luck,. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=z9Nq...ature=youtu.be

Yeah.... I FEEL his pain!

Course my Boo Boo was caused by a "loose nut behind the steering wheel"; NOT the fault of the car. However, that same day there were a couple GT-Rs that went off the runway while standing on the brakes!

Lucky for them (and ME!) it had rained the night before and there was 6" of water standing around the end of the runway to act as a "water brake".

I'm thinking a drag chute for 200 mph cars wouldn't be a bad idea.

4000lbs of car is a lot of weight to bring to a stop. It's silly to allow a passenger in this type of a race. I could always tell the performance difference whenever I had a passenger in my vehicles at the drags. Depending on their weight, theres 2 tenths worth of "meat in the seat".
No reason to put more peoples lives at risk, both the driver/co-pilots and the emergency rescuers.
This illustrates the dangers of auto racing, not even the dangers of impact so much, but the danger of being incapacitated and having the car catch on fire. These guys were in jeans and t-shirts.
I cringe at some of the fuel systems I have seen that take some of the stock OEM safety systems out of the loop. You do NOT want the fuel pump to empty the fuel tank through a broken fuel line.
But I guess that's why a solid teching of the participating cars is for at these events.

What exactly happened here? Car did a left turn in the braking zone. Anyone know the cause?
