They aren't the cache of take-out motors that surfaced about 15 years ago, and they do all appear to be unused.
It's interesting that they appear to be early 375hp motors and not the later 405hp.
So they're not left overs after 1993, why would they not used?
I've never heard that Chevy had cached early motors only had leftover late model ones.

Pretty limited audience. Seems kinda steep if you have 12 of them.

Yeah they almost look used, like they were takeout motors from warranty swaps. They are a little northeast of Tulsa, Jerry. Why not go take a look? --Bob

I have known about & seen these particular engines for several years and am very familiar with the status & origin. The previous owner was a good friend of mine who is now deceased. Suffice it to say, these engines are not all new, production engines ready to ship to BG for installation into ZR-1's, that were simply"lost" in some corner of a forgotten Mercury warehouse, and just recently discovered like the "Lost Dutchman Gold Mine."

Buying an engine without solid knowledge of its internal condition & completeness is a big risk.

Totally agree, unless they were stored correctly and rotated according to a schedule then they're all going to need to come apart and check all the internals before hitting the "Go" button.
Would be a waste to spend $11k, go to the trouble to install only to have it detonate because a bearing had seized or a ring breaks.

I recently purchased a complete 375 HP engine assembly from Jerry because A) my knowledge is limited and B) I was comfortable with his expertise.
Ask me about flying a transport category jet...I'm yur guy. Ask me about 68/69 Corvettes, I'm good. Ask me about 1990 ZR1s...I'm gonna defer😁

The story I read about the woman on the final assembly line that overrevved brand new engines that had to be replaced. Could these be those? Where did those engines go?

a certain "corvette engine" surfaced in a storage bin for uber low $$
owner died and the storage company wanted it gone

after tear down to go stroker, it looked like a low mile new one
obvious the prior owner had taken care of it as most zr1 owners do

Jerry

are these the old kirk boat motors and gm test stuff and such? Are you at liberty to say more

I really wanted to do a story on that. Sorry he's gone now.:saluting:
