Yeah, they butchered that up pretty well. BTW, the sticker on my 90 was pegged at $60+k. Well, R & T wouldn't be the first magazine to do get the facts so screwed up as to make the article worthless....:thumbsdo:

Thanks for posting this.

MotorWeek was able to get the ZR-1 up to 60 mph in 4.3 seconds and through the quarter mile in 12.8 seconds.
Uh ... that's darn quick for stock.

Uh ... that's darn quick for stock.

At the US-41 Dragway (~600 feet AMSL), my best time (stock 1990 except for a Borla cat-back) was 13.1, trapping @ 113.x mph, reaction time 0.6. (low 70s and dry, but DA = ??) So... I guess if it had been a 0.0 reaction time, potentially it could have been low as 12.5 sec. So, their 12.8 "feels" to be in line with a stock 90 Z, methinks. That part of the article might be OK, I guess...

BTW, RW torque on my Z at that time (and now) is shown below. If my eyes are correct, it is ~ 330 ft pounds, which would translate to around 385 ± at the crank for a stock LT5. 300 ft # is in line with an LT1/4 at the crank. Big difference.

Reaction time has no bearing on ET or trap speeds.
The clock doesn't start till you "break the beam"
So you wouldn't have gone any faster or quicker.
Pretty good times though!

It's all about the 60 ft

Reaction time would effect ET but not speed.

Maybe I'm ignorant, but if reaction time doesn't factor in on et, then why worry about reacting quickly as the tree goes down. One could just always leave on the green and never have a DQ.
