Bose replacement speaker chassis?

Many of us have rebuilt their Bose head unit, cdm and amps. But considering the age of our beasts I was wondering if there are quality replacements for the Bose speaker chassis themselves.
All the materials suffer from aging, magnets lose their strength, etc.

So, is there an equivalent in the market to replace worn Bose speaker chassis with a substitute that matches all oem parameters?

To make it clear: I don't intend to swap out the Bose system or plug in ANYTHING that physically fits the speaker housing. I'm looking to refresh the system with new but OEM like speakers.

Any ideas or experience?

I was able to get Bose replacement speakers a few years ago. I'll look around to see where I got them.

Hmmmm... looks like Corvette Mods was bought by Top Flight Automotive.
Speakers not available there.
I'll try to find the boxes and get the Bose part number for the speakers.

Powrbass OE652 are 2ohm OEM replacement. I tried it in the car and the sound quality was on par with Bose units.

Matt, suggest you make contact with Dr. Don http://www.doctordons.com/ He worked for Bose for many years and set up a repair shop in Texas when he retired from them. Great guy who gives you the right information. When I purchased my car the radio just made squeals and pops. It was recommended that I contact Dr. Don and he told me the amps go bad on the OEM models. While I wanted to purchase all new speakers, he said no. Front speakers are made of cloth and will last forever, just needed the front amps. For the rear speakers, he said to purchase the speaker with amps as they are made of paper and the heat over 30+ years wear them out. "While I was at it"...you know how that goes, I also sent him the head unit to replace the first gen laser for the CD to a modern one 100's of times more powerful which stops skips when you hit a bump and on the cassette side he hardwired a 4 foot AUX input cable so you can plug in your phone or XM radio. I have a XM radio hidden in the center console and have a RF repeater in the dash vent next to the shift light. To change channels, just point the remote to the vent and change channels all day long. Best of both worlds, everything looks 100% stock but you have just outstanding sound. People are amazed that this great sound comes out of a 30+ year old system. One of the best mods I have done.

Thanks for the research! I'll check that out. I also spoke to Bose Central and they seem to offer replacement speakers, too.

Also thanks Charlie, I'll get in touch with Don, too. I know him from previous attempts to have my amps fixed but in the end Thomas did a great job in helping me locally.

It's not a top priority topic but changing dated hifi components can make a big difference. So, it's on the list :)
