4:10 gears
Thinking of putting 4:10 gears in my 91.....Are viper gears the preferred choice? What do I exactly need? Who has the best price for parts and what exactly do I need?
Thnx... |

No gaskets, RTV for the cover. Being my ZR-1 is stock it was a worth while mod.

Re: 4:10 gears
John, can i ask why you want 4.10's?
You'll be sliding/spinning tires. I just finished my 391ci stock gears, new Nitto Drag Radials and it's a smoke show. Pete Quote:

Re: 4:10 gears
Despite Pete's preference for 3.45s for drag racing. I think 4.10s were one of the best mods I did on both of my ZR-1s (along with the Hurst short shifter set up to look stock). One car had about 450 HP and one had closer to 500. Really made around-town street driving better . Face it, 99% of the time you will not be applying full power on every takeoff. If you are drag racing you can lug the engine a bit at the start, although you will need to shift to 4th in the quarter mile. For the three or four times I actually drag raced my cars it was fine with me. Not trying to set any records, just have fun. Depends on your goals for the car and your typical use. Your mileage may vary.--Bob

I know it would help with 6th gear cruising but most of the time I'm on the highway I'm using 5th.... |
