Re: Edmonds Oklahoma tornado
Hit a mile North of his house. They were real lucky Jerry said... That was hours ago and I've not gotten an update. I'm sure things are a mess there. Jerry said the funnel was an F4-5...

Re: Edmonds Oklahoma tornado
We are all fine. Thank you all for the concern. We were about 120 miles from home when Karen called about the storm warnings. It's a very helpless feeling when you can't be there to look after your family. Tornado warning technology is better than ever but the transition from a hanging wall cloud to a tornado on the ground happens very quickly. We were lucky in that it was only an F1 when it touched down about 5 miles NW of us and lifted after crossing I-35 about a mile north. A few minutes later, it reformed and developed into a killer F4 tornado 3/4 of a mile wide with 200mph wind speeds. Had that happened 10 minutes earlier the results would have been much worse. Nothing survives above ground and the only options are getting below ground or out of the way if you can.
We are forcast for another day like yesterday. You can bet we will be paying attention. I had several ZR-1 friends from around the country call to check on us. It really warms the heart....... |

Re: Edmonds Oklahoma tornado
Jerry, I grew up in Oklahoma and worked out of OKC for a long time. I know the feeling waiting for a funnel cloud drop out of the sky. I have had tornados go right past me in Del City and North OKC. Thank God you and Morgan weren't near it and no one was hurt. Nothing like a weather bullseye to make you love living.

Re: Edmonds Oklahoma tornado
Jerry, I'm so glad I got to meet you in BG and really glad to hear you and your family are ok. The tornado in Granbury, Texas last week missed my brother by less than 2 miles.
Be safe, my friend. |
