Machine shop recommendation?
Hey, I would like to get my stock dual mass flywheel resurfaced. Can anyone recommend a machine shop in the NYC metro or Hudson Valley area? I keep the Z in New Paltz, NY.
Thanks in advance. |
Re: Machine shop recommendation?
A competent motor machine shop capable of surface grinding flywheels should be able to take care of it. Key step is to firmly block the secondary flywheel side to primary side so the clutch disk contact face is parallel to the crankshaft flange face side.

I've got a local parts supplier that does that. Point is, don't be afraid to check with some of them. Probably the small local guys, not the big chain stores.

Check with the Vette Doctors on Long Island.

hi phil I wonder if Lloyd has done these. The urban myth is that the dual mass can't be surfaced, and also you can't turn the factory crank. I understand the challenges, but with the price of the dual mass it seems like this would be a great way to go. |
Re: Machine shop recommendation?
No doubt Lloyd could do it. He has a nice flywheel surface grinder.
