I would be happy to bring BBQ to supplement the hotdogs. Boys, sing out who is available so we can plan, don't want leftovers.

Jim,

A change in our plans for the weekend has Erica driving up to VT to spend some time with family and retrieve our kids from their summer vacation with the grandparents, so it looks like I can make it out to lend a hand and maybe address a few small needs on one of my cars. Not sure which one I'll bring yet, but I'll be there. Let me know what to bring for the bbq, or I can make a grocery run tomorrow once we see what's needed.

Happy Birthday America! Give thanks to the brave men and women that sacrifice to keep us free!

4th of July in WAZOO-land was rainy and dreary, but that didn't stop seven hard-core ZR-1 enthusiasts from getting together to work on our cars.

Here is the group, left to right: Lois & Bob, Kevin, Jim, Yun, Charlie with his old radiator, Scott, Ed

Yun is pulling his injector housings to eliminate a minor coolant leak:

Kevin, Jim and Charlie are disconnecting coolant hoses:

We replaced the radiator and coolant hoses in Charlie's 1992 ZR-1. The new radiator was a DeWitts and the coolant hoses and clamps came from Jerry's Gaskets. I hope Charlie will post some installation photos. The take-out radiator was well clogged with >70,000 mile of debris, including leaves, grass, and the grit that lodges in the fins.

On Yun's 1994, 385cid LT5, he used a florescent dye in the coolant and a black light to locate the slight injector housing gasket seepage into the intake runners that was causing coolant loss.

Many thanks to my Wazoo brothers for getting me out of a jam with my overheating stock radiator. After pulling things apart, it was clear that the problem was 23 years of debris stuck in the radiator. It was replaced with a new DeWitts radiator which fit with no or let's say just minor modifications (cut out a 1/2" section of the rubber tab in the bottom mounting area). Jim, Scott, Ed, Yun, Kevin and Bob did an outstanding job getting this done and I am very grateful. Now bring on the high temps, no worries!
Jim starts pulling out leaves but there was a lot of very fine grit stuck in the radiator as well. You can see the fine size that we started to shake out, it just kept coming out. Not worth the effort to try to clean the original, just replace with new technology. The new hoses and clamps from Jerry's are very good quality but a couple were a real PIA to fit onto the new radiator. It took a lot of muscle, grease and a few cigars to reduce stress but finally got them all in place. What a great group of guys.

Charlie, glad that it's back to running as good as it looks...
