$ 105,000 for an 87 GNX,and the bid goes on?

They had Mecum auctions on all day at Christmas ...I tuned in for like a half an hour or so..It wasn't a live broadcast but I think it was the one in Kissimme Fla. a few months prior...

87 Grand National GNX..I believe around 2,300 miles....$105,000 !!!! And the bid goes on....Really? I was 24 back in 87..Allthough the GNX was rare, you did see a few.....Along with the Grand National the IROC-Z and GTA Trans ams, these were the hot cars of the 80s....But I'm like, you kidding? 105,000 and you don't sell it? Hmm...

Yeah for what they were at the time.....pretty cool I guess but the styling of the car didn't jazz me too much and face it....it isn't a Ferrari :icon_scra $105,000?

...and yet some say our ZR-1's will never be worth anything.
Yeah, right!
It's catching up, just wait as the money moves through the 80's into the 90's.
Stay tuned.

I'd rather have a V-8 ...

Apparently, demand exceeds supply.

Exactly, with only 547 units produced it's easy to see why that has happened.

Great point....can you imagine if only 547 ZR-1s were ever made.

There were less than 547 Callaway B2K Corvettes built and they have more HP than the Buick, (and I am quite sure the highest top speed of anything from GM to that point, if not all American manufacturers) but for some reason lack the mystique right now so values are nowhere near the $100K mark, even for a low mileage example. The collector market is funny, micro-cars are hot right now which makes no sense to me... they drive like your lawn mower but the style is wanted by enough to make them more valuable than 180 mph Corvettes. I believe the highest performing C4s will have their day, but that day has not arrived yet.

Actually I'm glad the ZR-1's aren't top dollar. Gave me an opportunity to purchase one in '14 and allowed me to keep my C3's. To me that is a win, win situation. Never bought a Vette for investment, always for pure driving enjoyment!!! Drove my 82 CFI for 4 years as a "dd"....made the commute back and forth to work, very enjoyable to say the least.....
If the price goes up on the ZR-1, well that is a bonus. Doesn't mean I would sell it, I am more than satisfied that I own a piece of automotive history. That doesn't happen too often!!!:)
