Haibeck Automotive or Evolution Motorsports

I'm considering having the top end ported / refinished, installing a RideTech coilover kit, and repairing a few misc items I don't feel like messing with. I've bought a few items from Marc in the past and his reputation and prices are great. Unfortunately, transport costs have gone through the roof in the last year. I paid Reliable $1600 last April to transport the car from TX to VA. I figured there would be a slight premium now but was hoping with the shorter distance it would be around the same price. They quoted $2,365. Searching other options I stumbled on Evolution Motorsports. They are less than an hour away from me. I don't know anything about the shop, and their top end porting service is much more expensive. Anyone have experience with them?

I do not have any information on Evolution, but I recently purchased my ZR-1 and was happy to find Haibeck Automotive in my backyard. After visiting there and speaking with Marc and Bob, I can see why their reputation is so incredible with the Z's. It's all the little things they know. I've heard many stories from members and I'm not sure there is anyone else in the world that has that expertise or experience.

Last time I was there I asked Marc, "You've been doing this a long time, what's your favorite thing to work on?" his reply was "All the cars that the other shops can't fix".

Marc is meticulous. Just drive the car to Chicago and then fly back.

Another great endorsement!

That would save a lot of money, but I'm not sure I want to drive to Chicago.

Find a way to get your car to Marc. You won't regret it.

If you are planning that much work, the shipping is not that much of the repair bill. I sent my car to Marc last April with a list of needed repairs and maintenance.
The tuning and drivability are spot on. Shipping to Marc will be my choice in the future for any LT-5 tuning or internal work. Marc had several months of scheduled work when I first signed up, so you may want to see what his work load is.
Jim Voter and the Wazoo group have many years of experience with these cars. They are a very approachable and open group.

Another vote for Haibeck. Sent my 92 to him last year and was blown away by the quality and care of his work.

I agree that shipping costs have gone through the roof. Plus, you might encounter delays in pickup/drop off. I'd ship it one way and drive back home to VA.

If youre confident in the condition of your car currently, just drive it up.

Im in MD and its about 10-11 hours. I figure when its time to take mine up, leave at 3am or so, get there by 3pm and after the meet and greet, hop in an Uber and head to the airport and be home by dinner. Reverse order on the way home lol

Save on shipping, more money for repairs!
