Re: Continuing angst... headers today...

You are referring to a posting from a six years ago. The current version, made in the past four years or so, of Stainless Works headers does not interfere with the steering shaft. They currently make...

Re: What spark plug wires are these?

They are solid core wires. I recall that several sets were installed in a hotel parking lot at a BG Gathering in about 2005. Non-resistor BRU sparkplugs were also installed. The combination caused...

Re: New 3" Exhaust Installation

It's easy to control the valves with an RPM switch. Use Summit Racing PN SUM-830453. $50. Connect it to the B&B vacuum solenoid. Then you can set it to automatically open the valves at, let's say...

Re: DIC Bulb Location

The 'ABS Active' indication was first implemented in '91. It will turn on for a second during the pump self test when the car goes to about 8 mph following key on. In '91 a relay was added to drive...

Re: I guess it wouldn't be a ZR-1 without an oil leak.

The '92 - '95 sensor fits without the bushing.

Many people have replaced the oil temperature sensor and have been disappointed. The scale on the gauge is non-linear. When the needle is pointed at...

Re: AC compressor question

Grounding pin C16 on the ECM will directly activate the compressor clutch relay. If the compressor runs, your problem is that the ECM is not receiving an "AC Request" signal.

Re: Diff fluid change

The C4 Corvette service manual does not specify a lubricant change interval for the differential.

Debris gets shed into the lubricant during the break-in period. I like to replace the lubricant...

Re: corsa exhaust

I'm not sure, but I believe that the right side flange was eliminated at the '92 1/2 model year point.

In my opinion, GM used the low restriction mufflers that they developed for the '92 LT1 as...

Re: corsa exhaust

'90 - '95 has a ball fitting on the left side.
'90 - '92 has a three bolt flange with a gasket on the right side.
'93 - '95 has a 2 3/4" slip fit on the right side.

A '93 - '95 exhaust system...

Re: Brake pump

In the US the Dorman master cylinder is available at RockAuto.com. I know that recently a ZR-1 owner in France was able to get parts from Rock Auto. Hopefully you can.

Re: Brake pump

Hi,

I have seen this several times. The master cylinder can transfer fluid from the front reservoir to the rear reservoir when there is an internal leak in the cylinder.

For replacement we use...

Re: Ecklers speedometer module - help needed

Yes Matt. The yellow wire on the speedometer sensor is the other end of the yellow speedometer wire on the ECM.

Re: Ecklers speedometer module - help needed

You cut the yellow wire at the ECM connector. The output of the correction module goes into the ECM. The ECM transmits the speed to rest the car.

Re: Ecklers speedometer module - help needed

Hi Matt,

I like to locate the electronic module inside the car where the environment is nice.

Cut the yellow wire going to pin A6 on the ECM. Connect the wire from the harness to the...

Re: What causes battery drain?

The Viper alarm may draw current full time, even when not armed.

I have removed three Lo-Jack batteries that were causing a full time car battery drain. When the gel-cell back-up battery gets old...

Re: back cut large valves or not? on a 402 CID..

The OE type primary chain is all that you need. I have never heard of any problem using it. Install it with new facing on the tensioner.

Re: back cut large valves or not? on a 402 CID..

An LPE Titanium valve spring retainer weighs 10 grams. The OE steel retainer weighs 19 grams.

The spark and fuel tables end at 7000 rpm. The last datum in the table applies from 7000 to 7500 rpm....

Re: back cut large valves or not? on a 402 CID..

We also added power to the engine so that it did accelerate faster. What the lighter lifters contributed was mixed into the overall results.

LPE was a major supplier of Titanium retainers. They...

Re: back cut large valves or not? on a 402 CID..

Hi John,

I have used lighter lifters. It was at the special request of a customer and it worked out well. INA part number F-46516 is the same as the OE LT5 lifter except:
- It has an open...

Re: back cut large valves or not? on a 402 CID..

I think that it's interesting to note that Lotus added a back cut on the intake valves for the 405 HP '93 - '95 engines.

I always have the early intake valves back cut.

Re: Speedo not working

The most common cause for the speedometer to read zero is an open coil in the sensor. Unplug the sensor and measure the resistance at the pins. It should be about 500 ohms. If you measure infinity,...

Re: Looking for better than stock alignment specs (90)

Dominic,

The DRM brackets don't effect the alignment specifications. The camber rod brackets are nice for wheel alignment in so far as they reduce the amount of camber variation as the wheel goes...

Re: Looking for better than stock alignment specs (90)

Front:
For some track use and mostly street use I recommend -.5 degree camber in the front. This will improve grip and causes only a little additional wear on the inside of the tire.

For serious...
