Seems odd that solenoid contacts would burn after only 16,000 miles. Poor design? On that note, why put the starter under the plenum anyway?

Thanks for the input. I will take a look. The vacuum pump turns on for a few seconds and then turns off-but it sounds different than it normally does-more of a clicking or grinding noise. Probably...

I had a similar issue and it turned out that my clutch fluid was very low. I filled the reservoir and it was like I installed a new clutch. Good luck.
