Heater Core Repair or Replace?

Hey guys,
I recently discovered the heater core on my 1990 Zr1 was leaking. I just got it out and now I am trying to decide whether to replace it or have someone repair it. The aluminum replacement...

Re: Confirmation sought: exhaust stud leak?

Yep, that should fix your problem. Both of my header studs were also leaking, I did the same thing and took them out and resealed them. That fixed the leak for me.

Re: Transmission won?t go into gear

The first thing I would check is the level of clutch hydraulic fluid. However, I had the same issue, and it ended up being a bent clutch fork.

Re: Exhaust doubts

I have stock mufflers with aftermarket headers and the resonator deleted. There is no drone, and it is quite a bit louder than factory without being too obnoxious.

Re: Chattering going into 1st/Reverse

Update:

Finally got the time to tackle this clutch job for the third time. (I have gotten much faster, haha) I was able to acquire a good used original pressure plate thanks to LGAFF. Just got it...

Re: Clutch pedal travels too low

What clutch disk did you install? If it's not the hydraulics, it could be a matter of needing to shim the pressure plate if the clutch disk is too thick. Marc Haibeck has an article that talks about...

Re: Throwout Bearing Play

Yes, I?m aware that all the pull type clutches now made for C4s are made from the same parent company. Unfortunately, it is near impossible to find a NOS Valeo plate. Did you end up sending your...

Re: Throwout Bearing Play

I think this is my exact issue. I installed a new Spec clutch kit and a resurfaced aftermarket flywheel, and the result was I had tremendous shudder going into first and reverse.

After the issue...

Re: Throwout Bearing Play

Yeah, that is what I figured. It is good to hear that yours had the same play and works correctly. That's one less thing that can be my issue.
Thanks,
Scott

Throwout Bearing Play

Hey Guys,
I am trying to figure out why my recently installed SPEC clutch has so much shuddering/chatter going into 1st and reverse. Could the play in the throwout bearing be the source of my...

Re: Intermittent growling and harsh vibrations in neutral

I used this pilot bearing puller I rented from autozone. I had to file the ends to give a more secure grip and it did the job nicely.

Best of luck,
Scott

Pressure Plate Questions

Hey guys,
I will be installing an original lt1/l98 Valeo pressure plate into my 91 Zr1 and pairing it with a fidanza flywheel. With the shorter pressure plate do I also need the shorter clutch fork...

Re: Anyone Know What This Part Is?

You might be able to slip on the two new hoses with the plenum on, but it would be much easier with the plenum off.

Re: Anyone Know What This Part Is?

Sounds like the dual vacuum connector that the 90 cars have.

This is an excerpt from Marc's vacuum leak article.

WTB: Flywheel

Hey guys,
Before I pull the trigger on a new flywheel (leaning towards the fidanza), I just wanted to see if anyone has one laying around that they would consider selling.
Thanks,
Scott

Re: Fuel Pressure Regulator available from Corvette Central

I believe those are being supplied by Jerry's Gaskets. I just recently bought one from Jerry and installed it. So far it has worked without any issues.

Re: Chattering going into 1st/Reverse

Update:
The chattering/shuddering only got worse to the point it was almost undrivable so I took the clutch back out of the car. It appears the clutch is engaging first on one side of the pressure...
