I can't wait to hear my LT5 sing with the new OBX exhaust... Jim, thanks so much for making these plans last minute and helping to install my birthday present on my birthday!

Oh ok, I thought it was the other "WMD" definition.
We'd never be able to find it.

Would like to be there but out of town and won't be back until late Sunday.

Nothing like hearing your LT5 singing for the first time through a new set of pipes...

Can't make Sunday. Hope it's cooler in Westminster than here. Have fun.

Thanks Jim and the Wazoo gang for a most excellent birthday! The OBX exhaust install went off without a hitch, and I especially appreciate all the time spent making it fit just right... I hope we can make plans to go to 75-80 for 1/4 mile runs, and/or Summit Point/Poconos Raceway soon!

Regarding the exhaust, I am 100% thrilled with the sound, lack of resonance and look... I took a couple of videos to share the sound. I have uploaded them to the OBX cat-back exhaust thread.

Jim I'll be back this week with a truck to pick up my original 91 exhaust.

I'll post some pictures from today here later on...

! ! ! WAZOO DOES IT AGAIN ! ! !

Thanks to Jim, Phil, David, Kevin, Bert, and Yun, my ZR-1 received a heart valve transplant (commonly known as a crankshaft oil galley plug). This was a most interesting procedure as a previous mechanic tried to cover up their mis-deed by filling the end of the crankshaft with RTV. With lots of patience and attention to detail, the RTV was removed and the old plug was removed. Phil then used his custom tool to install the new crankshaft oil galley plug (looks like a small freeze plug) with some specialized Locktite Bearing Compound (620). The tool was made to insert the plug 12mm. The latest information says the plug needs to be 14mm deep so some fine detail work was necessary to move the plug the extra 2mm into the crank.

The next step in the procedure called for replacing the fluted crankshaft bearing (again with a custom tool) (behind the craknshaft oil galley plug). The rest of the surgery was the more common type of clutch replacement surgery with a transfusion (Oil/Filter change) thrown in.

If that weren't enough, they continued on my car and my A/C is BACK! Replacement of the HVAC blower fan (and the resistor plate) cured what was ailing my A/C. For the first time in a very long time I drove home in Air Conditioned comfort. I tried to get the A/C to form icicles on my nose but alas, it is a ZR-1 and the A/C isn't quite that good.

Of course we had the traditional WAZOO lunch to make it a proper WMD. Great German Choclate cupcakes were had by all thanks to Bert's wife (Happy Birthday Bert!).

All in All I have crossed over from leaky statue to Supercar. WAZOO elimintaed the terrible oil leak that has been plaguing my car (this is the third clutch since the unnamed shop decided RTV would hide their mistake). Now that my car is closing in on daily driver status (mechanical stuff all works), I can start to look at all the fun enhancements and yes, maybe even some visiual improvements in time.
THANK YOU ALL!

Congratulations Paul on finally getting this nagging problem fixed. After watching how quickly and adeptly your problem was diagnosed and repaired, I am firmly convinced that WAZOO's combined knowledge, experience, and mechanical aptitude about all things ZR-1 is unmatched!

Paul,

I am so happy your oil leak issue was finally resolved. It was painful to watch you go through clutches due to incurable oil leak.
Leave it to Dr. Phil and Capt. Jim to diagnose and perfrom such delicate surgery.
Now, your reference to "visual improvement" concerns me a bit... But happy to see you get over the "must" list to "wish list".
