Default Rattles inside and outside the car...

Hi everyone.

I've been trying to take care of the little things that help make the car more enjoyable to drive, and of course that includes trying to stop all the rattling and creaking. Oddly enough, my driver side door mirror glass rattles quite a bit. I know how to remove the whole assembly from the door, but is it possible to remove just the mirror glass so I can see behind there and tighten what might be loose?

Also, I have the stock radio and the face of the radio rattles. Almost like it's delaminating from itself. Anyone have this happen to them? Visually, there's nothing wrong with it...it just makes noise.

Thanks in advance.

Constantine,
The outside rear view mirror can be popped out by putting even pressure on the edges of the glass. When you get the glass out you will see some small screws that hold the adjusting assembly in place. These screws are probably loose or might even have one missing. Put some locktight on the screws and snug them up. Pop the glass back in and you are done. This is a fairly common issue.
Sorry, but can't help you with the face of the radio. Might give Dr. Don a call and see what he thinks.

What Kenny says or,
Your mirror rattle is probably due to a broken trunnion or the plastic tabs it snaps into. The trunnion allows side to side and up and down movement of the glass.
Someone here may know where to get what ya need to fix it?

If there is something actually broken, call Mark at Mirrocks. The parts are common C-4 stuff and Mark has a lot of them.

Thank you, all, for the replies. Prior to seeing your responses, I found a helpful video on Youtube with a kid and his Gen 3 Camaro, same mirrors. I pulled it and tightened the outer screw. All done.

I've already spoken with Dr. Don. He's a pretty nice guy, by the way, and we spoke extensively about what I want to do with the radio. He's unsure about the rattle, but thinks it may be loose in the dash. We'll see. I'll pull it and check it out. I'll most likely be sending it out to him for service.

Thanks again everyone!

My radio buzzes and rattles like crazy too, depending on the road surface. I actually think it's all the buttons getting slightly loose in their mountings. If so I really don't think there's a lot that can be done.

Best solution that I have found with 25 + years of ZR-1 ownership to overcome the squeaks and rattles is to absolutely go with the loudest most aggressive exhaust that you can find.
Yes, it will drone.
Yes, your neighbors may frown at your 5 AM startup on drive days.
You may need a couple of Excedrin.
HOWEVER, the smile on your face during each drive will be a lasting treasure.
It is now an older Corvette, AKA Born to Rattle.
If you want quiet, drive the Lexus.
Enjoy the drive, rattles and all!
