No Respect for the Cammer
There was a reference to the Bloomington Gold Great Hall in an online article, so I looked it up in hopes that the C4 ZR-1 was honored. Well, you guessed it, no mention of the ZR-1 at all.
There are references to legendary great cars of the past, the 55' "First V8", the L88, the ZL-1, along with some questionable picks like the "78' Pace Car", and the C5 ZO6. But not one mention of my favorite Corvette. Dave McLeland's baby gets dissed......again. The 2009 ZR1 is already in the "Great Hall", and the 2012 list is "under Construction", so I don't know if the engineering masterpiece that set so many world records is going to rate a mention there. |

Some things never change. Considering THAT organization: I'm NOT surprised. (Can we say "clueless"?)

Re: No Respect for the Cammer
I don't really concern myself with these types of recognition. Bloomington and the like have their own pecking order and politics. Do you think that if Reggie Jackson or Jay Leno owned a C4 ZR-1 it would still be unrecognized by some of these events and organizations????? Someone would be smoozing them to get them to be at the events, for sure.
The C4 ZR-1 isn't the flashy guy. He's the guy who shows up every day, works hard and gets the job done. Kinda like a Lou Gehrig or Cal Ripkin. Not A-Rod. LOL The ZR-1 is continuing to come into its own. All specialty cars eventually get their due. It's coming and the 25th year for the marque will bring it in on its own. "Marque" my word.

Re: No Respect for the Cammer
Bloomington Gold is all about restoration, isn't it?
Do you think maybe some people just can't get their heads around "restoring" C4's? The earliest of which are over 30 years old. Or because there are probably more pristine C4 ZR-1 "survivors" out there than any other model Corvette ever? I think there are numerous collectors out there who would be much happier if they'd only made a couple of hundred of these exotic screamers. Then they'd be so damn precious that they would rate a hallowed spot in some billionaire's garage. Instead they made almost seven thousand of them, and the true enthusiasts are still out flogging them every chance they get. That's been the Corvette's problem since the very beginning, there are just too damn many of them to be "exotic cars". Lucky for us
