Default Trouble Clearing DTC on 93 ZR1

I have a SERVICE LTPWS light in my drivers information center. Using the shop repair manual and a code scanner I am getting a Code 34 which is a left rear tire sensor. I have replaced that sensor with a new one twice and I still get a code 34. Using the method of grounding B to A pin three times will not clear the DTC. The SERVICE LTPWS still gives a Code 34.

Have any of you had this happen? If so what was the solution? Thanks Ellis

The Service LTPWS light will automatically clear when the ignition is turned off. The grounding method on ALDL pins A and B should work if three groundings are performed within 10 seconds. That will clear the history code but is not necessary to clear the service light. If the light goes on the sensor has not reported in.

Make sure that you install a good '93 to '96 sensor. The early sensors use a different radio frequency and won't work in a '93 and up car. A list of part numbers is located here:

When you get a replacement sensor it can be tested without installing it in the wheel. Sit in the car holding the sensor, turn the ignition on and use a large screw driver with a rubber grip (or a similar tool) to tap the sensor lightly to simulate road vibration. A very good sensor will light the Low Tire Pressure light in less than 30 seconds. A sensor that takes up to one minute will probably work okay in a wheel. Longer than that is very weak. The piezioelectric power generator wears out with use. They were designed to run about 100k miles.

Thanks Marc.
As I recall I replaced the sensor with a new one with matching part numbers. That would have been back when you could buy them at a GM dealer. I do not drive the car very often so I have never bothered to find the problem tell now. It only sets a DTC when I drive slow going from my house to the HWY about 1 1/8 miles I drive under the 25 MPH and it sets a code.[ Which the repair manual states is normal at that speed] I have always driven that speed due to the road cond. But it never did it before I put in a new sensor. Like I said early on I have replaced the sensor twice with a new one thinking it was bad. I' ve had the car since it was new.
The problem I am having now is using the grounding method it will not clear the SERVICE LTPWS. It will flash a 34 code. L/R tire sensor. I have even taken the ground cable off the battery for 20 min. That did not clear it.
Has any one had a problem similar to this?
To all who answer.
Your help is most appreciated. ..................Thanks Ellis
