Arrow LT5 with velocity stacks spun to 9200 RPM!

Just came across this video of an LT5 with velocity stacks on an engine dyno that the poster says was spun to 9200 RPM. Maybe you guys have seen it, but I thought I'd post it anyway. Here is the info on the engine that is in the description:

"LT5 C4 ZR1 engine spun up to 9200rpm. Engine was built by Bonefied Customs and runs Bigstuff3 as the management system. Made 550hp and 450ftlbs at 8500rpm. Engine was destroked to a 5.0L to run at the Bonneville salt flats in the D/GT class. Enjoy!"

Why did they need to destroke it to run at Bonneville? And I thought the timing chains couldn't handle RPMs much past 8K?

Wow, what a sound! Crank up the volume...

Did you notice the lack of an oil pan... must be a dry sump...

Ron,

Note post #7 same comment...this engine I believe was built by Rippie as was the stand alone ECM.....Rippie had a dry sump setup on some of his LT-5 race car and that makes sense that this does not either.

The LT-5 inability to run over 8K was related to oiling on the lower end....when the car would hit 8K, pressure was pushing the oil to the top 1/2 of the motor, resulting in failure...the weakness was not a chain issue. I tried calling these folks awhile back and no one picked up....also tried conecting with them on FB.

I've driven by this place a couple times and have never seen anyone there. No signs are on the building either. Does anyone know the driver of the car at Bonneville?
