Default HELP No power ( electrical)

Ok Ive had the car a month or so. We had it out for a short drive, and shine. Everything was peachy. We put it away in the garage a couple weeks ago, havent touched it since. Went to go start it today and ZERO juice. Not even a dim courtesy light. Its like its "locked out" of power or something. I cant see where anything was left on.

Is there something ive done that shut down the system? Or what should I look for?

My guess is that your battery is dead (DOA).

Use a battery charger to charge the battery and then take the car to a place that can test the battery capacity.

Even a "charged" battery (one that measures greater that 12 volts) can have a very low capacity. That means that a small amount of load will quickly drain the battery (lower the voltage) until it will not be able to start the car.

Good luck

Jim

I agree my money is on a bad battery as well. Maybe an internal short as well. If you dont drive it often I suggest a battery tender to maintain a healthly charging system.

You didn't "wash" the motor did you?

If not, the battery is a quick check.

DOH!! (Homer Simpson) Well it WAS the battery. It went from perfectly fine....its only 2 years old.....to a complete open circuit. The car only has a few thousand miles on it and its rarely started, and I guess that takes its toll on the battery. I'll be getting a battery tender.

Im glad it was the battery....I figured triggered an internal anti theft circuit or something, mickey mousing around with the detailing of the engine compartment. I never had a battery go from strong to dead like that so quick.

Anyway....thanks for the responses.

Ummmyeeeaaaahhh...But! I'd wanna check the static current drain anywayz. I believe mine draws around 25mA that keeps the "pooter" alive, but I'll check it and get back to ya. In any case, as little as a single courtesy light can take a battery to zero in a couple weeks time. And, I totally agree on the Battery Tender. Winter or summer, it is always topped off and ready for serious cold starting.
