You mean that seats can be put in these beasts ... up here in the north Georgia mountains, all we have are milk crates .... makes the high speed twisties a lot more fun.
I might have to look into getting a pair of those new-fangled seats

George, you can also change out the hemp rope for a modern set of nylon seat belts.

Steve,

Remember Clayton last year? we might have topped off fuel in Clayton before the run to Helen ... I know that we went through Clayton after leaving the hotel in Dillard on Monday morning. Had we not made the turn at the light in Clayton and gone straight another mile we could have stopped at WalMart ... not a big deal except the folks in the Clayton WalMart are exceptionally nice & I enjoy shopping there ... and even more interesting if you remember the movie, Deliverance. Remember the kid playing banjo? He works at WalMart and I think he used to own a cafe in downtown Clayton. Much of Deliverance was filmed in and around Rabun County and they did hire several locals as "extras" in the film. Don't think that Deliverance had much of an economic impact on the local area but it was the film that helped launch the movie industry in the state of Georgia.

Does he still play banjo? I would like to have a signed photo of him then & now with the banjo for my eclectic study decor.

He doesn't and never has played banjo ... he answered a casting call at his school in Rabun Co. and was chosen for the part largely because the director knew the "look" he wanted (using heavy make-up, costume, etc.). And for the Dueling Banjos take, another local (a banjo player) put his arms around the kid and through "movie magic" you didn't even know that it was a total set up ... at least that's the way it was done according to what I've heard/read. Sure looked real to me, though. Originally, I thought the recording was by Flatt & Scruggs but apparently it was done with the local playing banjo and the other actor playing the guitar (who apparently was a skilled guitarist). I really need to watch that movie again to see if I can recognize some of the locations, etc.

Here's a LINK in case you want to read about it.

Apologies for slightly off-topic ... otoh, Mountain Run 3 will be driving on Rabun County roads very close to where Deliverance was actually filmed so I suppose it has some relevance.

Just found out schedule conflict with Mountain Run 3 and BG trip so have to bail out. My son will graduate from UCONN and will be commissioned as a 2LT in the US Army. Giving up a once in a lifetime for another once in a lifetime. Next year......
If anybody needs rooms for the mountain run or BG, let me know by this Sunday night before I cancel my hotel reservations.

Just read about your conflict on the other thread ... you'll be missed for sure, but there will be another time.
