I did the fuel efficient thing with my Honda Civic a few years back . I did what he said he was doing to improve fuel economy and eventually the car began to have mechanical issues and caught fire so I highly recommend he take that car out and give it a few Italian tuneups and never go for fuel econmy runs ever again . He will destroy the engine period .

I'm always pretty pleased that my 500 hp, 1990 car is the most fuel efficient car I own.
