Yep that was a great story and very kewl 4 JVD to do it up 4 u right! I like the 2nd vid where someone says(presume your son while trying to hold onto his camcorder) "104" at the end! lolol. Really gives you an idea of just how fast your BW ZR-1 accelerates! Audio was a bit low though had to crank it but the mic/sound/audio was much better and the b&b's ring through!

Right you are about JVD being a class act. In '02 group from our Vette club went south for some sun. One,Stew, had serious problems with his carb & needed it repaired b/4 we headed back to the Pacific NW. I called JVD who spent his Saturday personally fixing Stew's car. Jim greeted Stew like a long lost buddy and his only customer. Stew was overwhelmed with Jim's hospitality and war stories, especially the Pirate racing things (see pic)

Stew has not had any problems since Jim did his magic. He often tells folks the car still runs better than it did the day he drove it off the dealer's showroom floor in 1978! Sure wish Jim would get out of retirement and open a shop close to me.

Bill I looked at your homepage 30 years of vetting! What a great Love affair...both the wife and the corvettes. Very cool! I have read bits and pieces of the Pirate Racing story and viewed the pic's from the Corvette museum and the placards ect. I was wondering if you knew of a complete story of the whole Zr-1 pirate racing. Were they part of Team ZR-1? Did you race with Team Zr-1? Perhaps if you felt so inclined you could start a thread in the personal racing section abt your adventures in racing vettes over the years! I have looked thru all the Team Zr-1 stuff and somewhere in there I think there are some great stories about racing Zr-1 and vettes in general. Perhaps others might join in and tell their stories! I think a lot of the original Zr-1 owners bought their Zr-1 to either collect as an investment, and there were others who bought the KOTH to race and these are the srories I and other 2nd gen Zr-1 guys would love to hear! jimo... tia... Bryan, No, as far as I know, Pirate Racing, was never associated with Team ZR1. Perhaps JVD or some of the others can help clarify this. I did some Drag Racing around So Cal in the seventies and did some racing school sessions at Willow Springs, etc, but never anything in the league with the Pirate folks...just a guy on the sidelines cheering. I did sneak into the old Meadowdale Raceway in Carpentersville many times with friends before they dug up sections of the track to take away our private race track. I like your idea of a race section on the forum...wish someone would start it. Again I'd be on the sidelines watching and reading in marvel about our great toys. There were some excellent Pirate pictures published on the ZR1NET last month http://zr1netregistry.com/ZR1_racingpictures.htm I sent you a PM with much more ramblings.

YES Bill as z factor has pointed out there exists that section already. As u can see I just did a post there! This is a great time for u to tell me sum of the old C-ville race track stories!!! Start a new thread there called Race track stories from days gone by with the Meadowdale stories ( like anything u remember from that particular track and events and stories u might have) and we willl see if others join in!!! See I didnt even know u lived in this neck of the woods! They had shut the place down b4 I ever got to go there so I would luv to hear stories u have of the place!!!!

here are some pic's of the zr-1 systems and a net article........

A Flowmaster cat-back exhaust for a 95 ZR-1. This exhaust, when installed on an ZR-1 with a 450-hp LT5 and compared back-to-back on a DynoJet 248H chassis increased the car's performance by 18 hp at the rear wheels. Image: Flowmaster, Inc.

Ray, the B&B is what I chose, but keep in mind it is very loud. I like the look & sound, but it takes some getting use to driving in traffic with the resonance at 1,800 RPM's. Other than that, you should love the system.
