Wow, that's a pretty neat looking 3rd brake light! Never seen that before. Seems like it's lower profile than the stock one, but maybe that's an illusion because of the much longer length. I want one!

Found a narrow bodied LT5 powered convertible in the 10/1988 issue of Vette Vues. The LT5 was at the June 12th 1988 Corvette Challenge Race at Riverside CA:

I would speculate that that car was an 88 prototype, based on the sequence number assigned in 87 as one of the 25 was a convertible. See attached build sheet.

Yep. That's Geoff's build sheet. I have a copy of it, also. Where does the "P" number come from? Where was it derived and assigned? It's not on the build sheet.

Brett, its on there below the "6 SPEED" above the dealer CPC info.

You do!! All the prototype build sheets have the P number on them. That number was/is on the little blue sticker on the windscreen and on the key fob. The cars with blue stickers were engineering test cars.

P=Prototype It is the number used by engineering to keep track of the data developed for the car. If you had a contact at GM it was the number needed to track what they had about the car. Not sure if that stuff went to the Heritage Museum but there are copies in some places, sure wish I could get to them.

Duuhhhh, I do see the "P" number now. Right under my nose all the time. Sean Finnigen may be able to help from the Heritage Center for the "P" number info? I have his number and email.

Tyler, Could be but the build sheet shows a 11T white top, and this one looks to have a black top. Hard to tell from the B&W photo but it looks like it might be red. I am trying to source other pictures from that 6/12/88 Corvette Challenge race to see if they show the car in color.

You are right, it would have to be vin 100024-28 according to the 87-89 production listings.
