Incompetent mechanics is the fault of the dealership not the vehicle owner.

I read this earlier today also. I despise and loathe entirely the lawyer who dreamed up trying to blame the car owner for this one. The car owner is not responsible for selecting who works on the vehicle or hiring the staff.

Seems to me the dealership should be 100% responsible for anything that happens inside the service department. Apparently they have zero safety training for service people that they hire. Kind of morbid but I would think the vehicle owner could sue for any damage to his vehicle while it was in their possession. Not a lawyer but I?ve stayed at a Holiday Inn several times.

Anybody can sue anybody for anything. Up to the courts who wins. Pretty stupid that a lawyer would dream up sueing the car owner here.

Doesn't look like he has any intention of making the owner pay and it's all about getting the dealership to pay. Anyway it's stupid and our legal system is outrageously convoluted.
