Get the SL55 much easier to work on

Coils are 50-100 bucks vs 1400 per
You can eliminate the ABC system with coilovers; 1700 kit
Less Heat to destroy parts
lighter engine
Engine mounts easier to change

My C32 is the 6 cyl version of this motor and its bullet proof w/146K miles and still running strong

Even if somebody would give me a Mercedes, a BMW or a Porsche as a
gift I would refuse to take them. I really do not like these cars.
Now you can say what you want and think about me what you want,
but don't forget I am closer to these cars here in Europe than anybody
of you.
The ZR-1 was not a cheap car in 1990 here in Switzerland. You had to pay
about CHF 175'000.-- to get one. For this money you could get a so
highly desired European car. I did not ever regret that my choice was the
ZR-1, never.

Have a good time,

Franz

Yes I guess all you guys are right..Expensive to maintain..I'm on my second BMW,a 2004 M edition X-5.....Car came with a three year bull crap warranty..

I've already had some repairs covered ( valve cover gaskets, right front axle and a few misc stuff......Had to pay for some stuff though.....This is my second BMW.First was an 02 330ci 5 speed ...Great car but not great for NY streets...

I'm guessing the retail on these imports are low because of the cost to maintain them......Can't believe some of the prices it costs to make repairs on them..

I owned 1 BMW, 750i Sport. Cool in some respects & lacking in others. Last one I will ever own.
Both front window motors went out at the same time, $900 to fix. Alternator too small & wont charge adequately unless driven every day for at least 30-45 minutes. All to add a tenth or two to overall fuel economy. Not all German engineering is practical.
Couldn't even monitor individual tire pressures or oil change usage. For a Sport model, a basic tool.

My Great-niece is going to school in Oklahoma.
I asked her; does the Sun rise in the east or in the west in Oklahoma?

Here's a repair for you. My wife's 2008 335i's twin turbos stopped functioning. The dealer wanted $1,700 to fix it. My mechanic, a friend in our rural community, took a look. He pulled a broken plastic valve off one of the vacuum tanks. He said, "go to the hardware store and pick up one of these, in brass, with the same dimensions".
$1.85, and one hour later, it was back together at full power.
If only I could keep doing this, I could afford to maintain this car.
