Default Front shock question..

Going to change the front shocks on my 91...Don't want to damage the actuator ...How does it come off ? Straight pull ? Twist and pull ?..

To remove the actuator (motor on top) Remove the clip at the base and just lift off.

Not sure, I know they'll fit and that the 93 had a different program.

I'm not sure it will fit. The 89-92 had a similar spec brass "nut" on the top and the 93-95 had a different size. I'm not sure if you have to swap actuators (and will they work with "the box" or if you can swap out "nuts?"

My understanding is there are (2) series of shocks 89-91 and 92-95. The difference is in the amount of rotation the adjustment gear on the top of the shock has. 92-95 have less rotation. You should be able to confirm the amount of rotation between the (2) types of shocks. Bilstein recently made a production run and many retailers still have them in stock.

bddeuce is correct. The 93 shocks will fit on a 91, but they won't function correctly as the controller won't move the actuator to the proper positions. You need to run all four shocks from the same year group (89-81 or 92-95). The actuators work across all years, but along with the shocks, you'll need to make sure you have the correct controller (again, running 92+ shocks with a 91 controller won't give you the proper valve position).

no Bueno. You can't mix these.

you either need the correct shocks, or buy 92-95 for the rears and update the FX3 controller.

I did find out you can use the same wiring. I ran 90 shocks in the LSV with a 90 controller and the fx3 worked just fine

the shocks need to match controller box
