Digital readout says, "sys"
The digital part of the gauges, more particularily where the avg economy is displayed, says, "sys." it will flash this a few times a minute then go back to fuel economy display. Did a search but found nothing. Any ideas?

I think that's indicative of a trouble code stored in the CCM. Could be a sign of a bad or failing battery, or something as silly as an indicator lamp that is burned out.

Check the connections at the battery first.
Loose? Clean, tighten and hit the battery with a charger then see if it comes back.
