Korvette (yes. With ?k?) was Royal Navy?s fast attack ship, I believe, smaller than a destroyer.
As for the emblem, thanks for the story. Never knew despite owning Corvettes since 1979.

Edit: Royal Navy gun boats were spelled with ?C? and not ?K?.

And the font for CORVETTE on the first C4s goes back to one of the Corvette specials,it's the silver car with the streamlined headrest, the SS? I discovered this when I saw a picture of this car years ago.

Before retiring the German companies I previously worked for, MTU, MAN, and RENK were the leading suppliers of propulsion equipment for corvette class naval combatant ships. Back in WW2 era corvettes range in size from 180 to 275 ft. overall length and displaced 750 to 1500 tons. Power was provided by either diesel or steam engines ranging from 4,000 to 12,000 hp on twin propeller shafts. Top speed was around 18 to 24 knots.
Like our cars modern day naval corvettes are larger and faster with more installed propulsion power. Speed in some cases can be over 30 knots. Usually twin diesel engine propulsion engines are used in power range of 8,000 to 12,000 hp. On faster large corvettes sometimes you see diesel engines combined with gas turbines which cam produce over 30,000 shaft hp.

This is fun. Here are a couple other Corvette ships including a picture of the last sailing Corvette, a British Flower class Corvette and the modern Swedish Visby class Corvette. --Bob
