Day 26 was a travel day for us. We drove from Bar Harbor, Maine to Brattleboro, Vermont, about 350 miles. The weather was hazy along the coast when we left Maine but was clear and hotter as we headed inland. Part of the trip was on the very familiar I-95, a clear signal that we are on the homeward bound part of the trip.

We enjoyed stopping in Concord, New Hampshire and meet up with another Forum member "efnfast":

It was a pleasure to have lunch with Steve and Terry. Thanks for the hospitality:

We then crossed the Connecticut River into Vermont:

Brattleboro, VT is a nice small town. The downtown area is well preserved and there has been a lot of restoration. All of the stores are occupied and there are several upscale areas. One of the best collections of art by local artists we have seen was at the Vermont Artisan Designs Gallery:

We visited the Brattleboro Museum & Art Center which is in the original Union Station building:

I liked the sculpture that was in front of the museum. I think one of teses will fit the rear wheel hub nut:

Jim and Lyndi, it was great to lunch with you. Boy, you've been on the road for a month and I just came out to meet you, look how dirty my car is. The joys of living in the woods.

Day 27 - Back Home.

We left Brattleboro early on Sunday and drove to the Delaware Water Gap National Recreation Area on the New Jersey - Pennsylvania border. After looking around, we decided to cancel our hotel reservation and head for home. We drove another 200 miles and got back to Westminster at 6:30 PM.

The kitties are glad to see us and everything is fine.

The trip over all was 27 days, 6,036 miles, 7 states, 6 Canadian Provinces.

My wife is an incredible "scrapper" (maker of scrapbooks). She has done several of our notable trips and they are just a joy to share with friends & family. Great way to organize photos & mementos with commentary.

I see visions of scrapbooks with all of your trips. Already organized in chronological order, with photos & narrative by way of your forum travel threads. Thanks so much for sharing with us.

Congratulations on another successful Jim & Lyndi ZR-1 road trip! I firmly believe you own the record for the most and longest ZR-1 road trips.

Jim - were you able to determine why your tires wore out so quickly? I noticed you said they did an "alignment" when they put your new ones on - was it off somehow that caused it?

The shop that did the alignment had to adjust rear toe in and left chamber angle. However, neither one was grossly misaligned.

I noticed (after I was hypersensitive) that the rear end may not be allowing rear wheel differential rotation on sharp turns. This may happen all the time and would cause abnormal tire wear in normal driving conditions.

I plan to replace the oil in the differential and add the correct GM anti-slip additive, then evaluate the tire wear over time.
