Default 1990 Infl Rest fix (both Drivers Side and Passenger Side)

To clear the code required the use of a stop watch. Counting was not precise enough for this system. Have jumper wire from K pin to ground on the seat frame when you turn key to acc. Hit the start button on your stop watch and remove wire from ground THE INSTANT the INFL REST light blinks on dash. Watch the timer and reapply ground wire when it hits 3 sec, and pull off when it hits 6 sec. Done.

My guess is the difficulty everyone has with this step is the level of timing the system is demanding. Get the time right and its easy. Maybe this will help some people in the future. It was a fun job to do.

Solid copper wire for jumper is great as it will stay in pin K location freeing up your hands.
Do Both Drivers Side and Passenger Side 1990 Accelerometer Sensor for Infl Rest.

The actual grounding of the INFL REST sensors for operation is only a requirement on the 1990 (see item #3) INFL REST grounds and Alternator Connector Boot

Yep.....I just did this successfully on two 1990 ZR-1s. I used two alligator clipped leads and grounded A to K. I tuned the key on and watched the Infl Rest light disconnecting the leads from each other when the Infl Rest blinked....then one thousand 1, one thousand 2, one thousand three connecting the leads grounding A to K one more time and counting one thousand 1, one thousand 2, one thousand 3 disconnecting the leads from each other.

I did this several times and finally found my panel clear of the Infl Rest light once and for all.......

And....the Seat Belt red indicator light on the panel also disappeared

This after I removed both right and left sensors and re-grounded both (as you described perfectly) then spray painted over each sealing the moisture access to the grounding surfaces.

Temporarily remove the top assembly with the tip up red nozzle from a can of WD-40. Remove the white top spray nozzle from the top of a can of Black Rustoleum. Place the WD-40 top on the can of Black Rustoleum (it snaps perfectly in place identical to the top of a can of WD-40). Spray Black Rustoleum in those tight areas around the Sensor (Infl Rest Accelerometer) sealing the sensor contact areas in contact with the frame rail.

Nasty under the sensor.
Step four: All cleaned up. Dielectric grease added and re-attached sensor next.
For the Passenger side Accelerometer Sensor for Infl Rest......
Remove the side panel. Leave tire and wheel in place.
Remove wheel well (rear of front wheel.....all 10mm bolts (three on slider, one below slider, two lower middle, one under wheel well)
Remove Windshield Washer Bottle (three 10 mm bolts).
Remove Sensor (one 10 mm bolt and one 13 mm bolt).
Use Emory Cloth and sand contact surfaces on Frame Rail and Sensor.
Replace sensor (10 mm and 13 mm Bolts).
Spray Paint with Black Rustoleum all around sensor and sensor Bolts.

Clearing Codes using the ALDL.
Ground K to A (I actually grounded K to the Seat Frame).
Turn on key to ACC
Wait for Infl Rest to flash and remove ground for 3 seconds. (I actually waited for the Code 26 (or code 16) to start flashing).
Re-apply ground for 3 seconds.
After removing ground wait 10 seconds.
Turn key off and remove ground to K.

Did another Clearing of 1990 INFL REST light today......It is nice to get those INFL REST code warnings (INFL REST) off the screen (Code 16 or Code 26)

Note the Code Clearing Method that seems to work best and the most difficult to get at Passenger Side Accelerometer Sensor below

OK, I finally checked what is driving the INFL REST light in my 90. It is showing code 42. What is the process for this? I don't have my FSM yet.

Jumper A to seat frame and then jumper K to seat frame (much easier to observe screen and touching jumper K to seat frame). It took me several tries and FINALLY.....

Also I did not start the 3 second remove of ground of K to seat frame until the actual code started to appear (after the code 12).

And....I must have tried jumping A to K at the ALDL about 20 times and never got it just right

You know you have a good ground if you see Code 12 appear on screen. If you do not see Code 12.....time to readjust your ground.

I know exactly what you are talking about. I was about to just give up after cleaning the accelerometers (grounding) a second time and on the last try of erasing/clearing the warning light the Code INFL REST just disappeared like magic

I was just able to reset my light. I followed Dynomites instruction to wait to clear it until the error code after code 12 appears and worked the first time! No luck in a hundred times when trying to do it on code 12.
