Agreed Paul. When I first got my current ZR, I experienced same thing. I made a jumper and bypassed the clutch switch. I continue to depress the pedal just as a precaution and ALWAYS make sure the shifter is in neutral.
But yeah there are times when it's convenient to be able to reach thru the window and just start the motor. One reason I made sure I had an eBrake w the C6Z rear calipers.

Which way you look depends on if the Transmission is in Reverse or Forward gears when you start the LT5 without clutch depressed

Starting the engine in gear is always a chance and with you outside starting the LT5 through the window......well.....

I would do it right (Recondition the starter and install the Starter Relay) solving most ALL Non Start Issues

Starter Relay, Wiring Harness, and Plugs Tricks

Yeah, but ya know what? I really despise "no option failure" designs. How 'bout you? Its one thing thing for some convenient gadget to fail. But, if it fails, AND it is the only option, i.e., "dead in the water", well...I don't like that. But, unfortunately, with the advent of computers and sophisticated electronics now-a-dayz, there's an ever-growing chance of being stranded and not have a "limp home" option.

My Limp Home Option is simple.......I use my Tow Bar and a nylon rope to give the ZR-1 a quick pull in second gear with key on. Or....a couple guys just pushing the ZR-1 when I pop the clutch in second gear with key on

But I have never had to use my Tow Bar since reconditioning the Starter and adding the Starter Relay
