Chuck - I believe if I were considering a black top on another colored car I'd likely consider coloring the "halo", belt to belt and the CHMSL black also. There's a distinct seam at the base each side and I believe it would look very good. I actually considered this in '03 when mine was painted. The painter already had color on some of the parts when I mentioned it and one of the parts already colored was the top.
