Default Windshield Question

Saw a beautiful 1995 car that had a windshield from a 90-92 with the large cutout. My question is this, was it possible it was replaced under warranty by the dealer?

This was an LOF windshield.

the jury is out on this subject. I was at the ncrs meet in kissimmee and there was a polo green 1995 zr1 with that very problem. there was a chevy engineer with this group and he was saying that sometimes they kept spares for corresponding years and if a particular group of cars/windshields were having a problem that it would not be out of the question that they would use a good one from a previous year. this green 1995 was bought by the current owner in 1997 so the car was 2 yrs old and extremely low miles. it has 7k miles now. never in an accident but it does have a 1990 style windshield. it did receive a ncrs top flight award and the judges didnt even question it.

That was a great looking car. polo green w/saddle int. is a great combo.

That car was an easy top flight, but I am surprised the judges didnt question it.There was also a great looking 94 white zr1 that had a dave Hill award, PV, and was going for the Crossed flag award. Top of the food chain.

It might have been all the dealer had left or what was left in the system at the time of the install.

GC,

This was my thoughts exactly being there was less 93-95 cars, therefore GM knew the production numbers by that time and only planned for X number of windshields with the small cutout.

Just curious if any other documented cases with a 93-95 car that had the 90-92 windshield?

No argument the PG car was nice, and it was even more intriguing as to like taximan said. The judges didn't question the large cutout, It was the first thing I noticed.

The next ones you see just check the "windshield bug" and check the production date of the glass. I'm surprised that since you noticed the "size" you didn't already maybe "snapshot" the windshield bug. The likely hood of a BG install? Very slim!

Might have been and maybe? Inconsequential now "it is what it is"

Just trying to be cognizant of the owner and that he may have taken offense to such pictures.

I understand that and I maybe read the thread a little to quickly because this comment:

that somewhat hints that it was maybe something discussed. I guess the better question for "taximan" might have been how he assumed or knew there was "no deduction" for glass? Owners placard is generally displayed on car dash or windshield. Did you maybe note that and can contact the owner with a question of interest?

I did some C4 glass research for date codes and the "formula for date coding" changed in '93 possibly. I never new that and it became apparent when a '96 GS owner was looking for a specific date code that I couldn't confirm. After that was confirmed I asked here for owners to check and confirm theirs with no responses. I posted back what I believe were likely correct after restudying the information available. Is it correct? I'm quite sure.

Perhaps this thread will generate new interest for NCRS.

A '93 owner mentioned years ago that he had a GJ coded windshield but he went on to give the dimensions and the dimensions he gave were certainly for a later "window". I never asked more or questioned the owner.

The thread I mentioned is here:
