Default Original Factory NIB LT5 Thermostat Housing!

Saw this listed over on eBay. Seems to be one of the scarcer LT5 parts to find these days:

Love it. People are bidding the hell out of it, and it still has 6 days to go.

It is very tempting to bid on it. I think it will bid through the stratosphere though.

From Marc Haibeck:

You don't really need one unless you don't have one at all. It's rare to have a problem with one. When there is a problem it's usually that the heater fitting breaks off or a bolt breaks off. It's not that hard to fix. The housing needs to be removed from the car. An excellent mechanic would have no problem grinding out the broken fitting or bolt and installing a new one.

I would pay $200 for a spare. If my car was down and I was looking for one for 6 months, $1000 might look like a good deal!

BTW, I'm in the process of trying to reproduce the housing. I don't know if I can yet. If I do, it might be available in six months.

Best of luck.

Marc

For 90-95.

I'm thinking higher. But the parts market has been lagging.

Agree, just picked up a new NOS air duct for about $50.00. The same one that sells at another vendor for $180.00

Prices always go through the roof when a post in a thread calls attention to the auction - we all bid against one another.

So there is nothing else that would work in place of the OEM part? Guess I understand the originality for most guys, but for others who care more of function isn't there something else we could use?

looking at my Z which will NEVER be NCRS, if I needed that housing I would find some alternate type part

You could definitely fix your old one but I'm not sure if you had alot of electrolysis going on what you would do??

Just remember 1000 miles down the road after installation it will look like all the rest of the used ones !!!! Unless you like to look at shiny new parts on the shelf, don't get carried away by the rush to buy. JMHO.
