Default Cabin Fan

The cabin fan will not shutoff, it runs constant at 1oo%. No setting will reduce or shutoff the fan. The bad part is I had to disconnect the battery to shut it off. After the engine shut off and the key removed it still ran. I checked the fuse and it was good. Before I start tearing things apart I need some input on any thing simular.

I had a similar situation resulting in dead battery in 3 days. My fan was running, even with the car shut off, at such a low speed I could barely hear it.
Replacing the fan control module on top of AC evaporator housing on the passenger side under hood was the fix.
Quick check would be pull the plug (there are two plugs) closer to the bulkhead and see if the fan turns off. Be careful, this plug is always hot (electrically), even with the ignition in off position.

I pulled the plug on the blower module and the fan quit. Was a new module available at auto parts store or GM only?

check with Steve (efnfast) sounds like the problem he had. not sure how he fixed it... we had to pull the fuse every time we shut the car off on the way back to New England from the Gathering last May

Jim
Rock auto carries this module from multiple sources.

Well I ordered the module from Rock Auto and I sent it back today. It was the only one they show for '92 ZR-1 and it won't fit in the evap box. It's too long and hits inside the the box not allowing it to be bolted in and sealed, and I had to pay to have the part shipped, both ways. Any other suggestions on suppliers?

Which one did you order from the Rockauto? AC Delco?
Another option is to find one on ebay, compare visually with your old one. If not functioning when installed, at least you'll get a refund.

Eckler's Corvette shows three different versions - 86-89' 90-92 and 93-96.

Well the saga continues. The only one pictured with Ecklers was the one that will not fit. I went to the AC Delco web site and they show the same one as Rock and Ecklers. So I guess the Evap. box for the ZR-1 is different from an LT-1. I took all the part #'s off the old one and could not find anything compatable. If you look closely you can tell it was out sourced where as the original is solid state made in Japan. I guess it is plugging and unplugging the blower fan for now.

Has anyone dealt with any reputable Corvette salvagers?
