Unhappy C4 Front and Rear Emblem Removal Help

I'm trying to replace the faded front emblem on the nose and the one in the rear on the gas cap access flap. After watching YouTube videos, it looks simple, but not in real life.

I started with the rear emblem on the gas cap access flap. I removed the two retaining nuts from the emblem and taped around the edge of the emblem's black circle to protect the paint finish. I was able to pry up the thin black outer ring, but I was unable to pry up the red and checkered flags in the center section of the emblem. Why they are glued down and bolted is another engineering mystery for another time.

Any successful procedures or suggests are sought for the removal of the emblems would be greatly appreciated.

Apply heat GENTLY AND CAREFULLY in order to loosen the adhesive.
Use a nylon / plastic trim removal tool while working it.

And, when installing the new emblem, defeat sticky side by rubbing baking soda on it. This way, you can remove the emblem periodically and clean dirt build up without scratching inside hoops.

Another vote for adhesive remover and fishing line here.

3M adhesive remover comes in very handy on a number of projects - so I keep some on hand always. The 3M stuff will not hurt the paint, and after it is allowed to work for ~ 15 minutes or so, sawing the monofilament fishing line (e.g., I used 4 to 6# test [i.e., thin!]) and a heat gun to just warm the surface slightly.

Lots a ways to skin a cat!

The 3M adhesive remover did the trick in softening the ancient glue holding down the emblem! Thanks!
