Default Is It Bad If This Is Rattling Around Inside?

When I took my car to the new tech, he removed the ECM for some troubleshooting. He was surprised when he had it out that something inside was rattling. This is what he found:

Indeed I was. And yes, mine did the same. I had the pleasure for paying for this poor quality repair.

If you want i can solder the chip to your MEM-CAL and will never have that issue again.

Have seen one using the G1 chip adapter come loose. It was the MEMCAL chip assembly detaching from the G1 adapter because the G1 wasn't fully seated. The G1 should "clip" in just like the MEMCAL unit does.

Agree with Pete that soldering is a permanent solution, but the G1 should not cause issues if installed correctly..

Securing the "piggyback" assembly if it came loose is a 5 minute repair... you can add a dab of silicone (for electronics) to help if the G1 to MEMCAL is not tight.37751.jpg

The repair was indeed easy. It was the troubleshooting done ineptly by the first mechanic that was the issue.
