Default Re: Antique Plates In VA?

Sorry for dredging up an older topic, but I was curious how people are interpreting some of the law. I am around northern NA and opted for the antique plates and wanted more information on how people with them use their cars.

Can you drive a vehicle with antique plates to a restaurant? I would think that could fall under a pleasure drive but I could see someone interpreting that differently.

Can you drive over 250 miles from your residence if you are going to a car show/event?

I have had historic plates for over 10 years and drive everyday as long as it is not raining or snowing both inside MD and outside, no issues. We drive to Bowling Green, KY for the C4 Gathering, Carlisle PA for Corvettes at Carlisle, etc. Don't overthink this, drive your car and enjoy it. Let me tell you what the gal at MD DMV told me....if your worried about it put a damn filter in your glove box and you are going for maintenance!

In PA you can drive anywhere and any time. My insurance policy (American collectors car insurance) allows me to drive the car up to 5,000 miles a year.

sorry i typod, i am northern VA. I probably am overthinking it, I just feel like i never see antique plates outside of events and I have read about poor interactions with LEOs who are unaware of the antique laws. I will be driving it more often.
