Looks like he is a construction company owner, has a Facebook page and has corvette pics.

Question Re: Tracking down the history of "Ten Penny"

Hey Y'all, so after some radiator cleanup (seems a mouse had moved in there) it was off to the dyno.

(Edited for data analysis updates)

Things I learned:
- The rev-limiter is greater than 8000 RPM, my pants limiter is 8000 RPM, therefore I did not go higher.
- Maximum Corrected Power: 435.6 @ 7238 RPM
- Maximum Corrected Torque: 359.5 @ 5917 RPM

I had to check the data, the dyno shop seems to have a "non traditional" set of correction factors. The numbers above are weather corrected with an 85% driveline efficiency correction only. Still impressive, not sure what the "lump" is at 3000RPM, maybe the wheel slipped or some inertial windup on the dyno?

Is it possible this is a DRM450 engine? The markings seem to indicate it, as well as the number being conspicuously close to a product they offered.

Thanks for finding that Lee, I wrote a message to him and hopefully will have more to report soon.

Arrow Re: Tracking down the history of "Ten Penny"

Spoke to Mr. Doug Rippie this morning!

Yes this is a DRM marking, the tag DRM1 was for the first batch of their modifications prior to the Black Widow engines. Likely it was their "emissions legal" package and the power just tested seems to match his expectations. These engines were hand built by Mr. Rippie and ported by Mr. Quinn!

DRM added the "Ten Penny" paint markings to identify the parts and make sure they all came back together to the same car (may have had 5 or 10 apart at the same time). This also means the transmission mentioned above was already in the car at the time it made it to DRM... still not sure how that got there.

It took all I had to keep my s**t together and sound professional when talking to a legend!

That is a great story and congrats on getting to the bottom of this. Such a good feeling knowing the history of your car. It is a bonding thing between man and car!

So I did get in touch with Stan, and met him yesterday. This is a DRM car, he sent it there back in the day for work, but wasn't totally satisfied with how it came out. After DRM it went to Auto Masters for some fine tuning. Properly explains why this car is such a beast

Some cool stories were exchanged and he happened to have a whole pile of JVD's newsletters... and the License plate from back in the day (Reads: 91 ZR I).

So the remaining unknowns: When did this transmission get installed? When did Dick Gouldstrand sign the breadbox?
