Default TPMS

Hello everyone, this is my first post. I recently purchased a 1993 Zr1, it only has 8000 miles and still has the original rims and tires in great shape. I have punched a set of extra rims with the car so that I can properly store the original rims and tires. I would like to have the car judged by NCRS. My question is can I purchase TPMS for the rims I am going to put on the car.

Hi. Yes, I did this with my '95. I took the original wheels and GSCs off (supposedly they had never been off the car) a year ago and put a set of refurbished OEMs on it, plus a new set of Michelin AS4s in stock sizes. It took a little while to find another set of sensors, but I eventually found a set. A lot of folks will disable it or take the bulb out, I think it's kinda cool to have been one of the first TPMS systems around, and I wanted it to continue working, as long as I ran the same wheels. You're going to want the tan sensors for the '93-'96 cars. The black ones from '89-'92 won't work with '93 and up. Be prepared to pay $150-$200/sensor, at least.

Good luck!
Mike

Thank you, If you don?t use the TPMS sensors the light will be on continuously or you can just pill the fuse.

Carefully cut and positioned black tape is equally effective.
