Good looking car. I always loved the black cars. My first Z was a black one. There is always Corvettes at Carlisle meet in August. Looks like I will have to miss BG this year also. Sometimes the stars don't align. Won't miss Carlisle though. Congrats on a nice looking Z.

Congrats, good looking car. We definitely need to do a DFW ZR-1 meet up soon.

FYI, depending on how you plan to use the car, you can register it as either a "Classic" or an "Antique" in TX. Antique mean no inspection and no emissions testing, and is supposed to be "limited" use (going to shows, club meets, testing the car, etc). Never known anyone that's ever had an issue with driving the car a lot even if it's registered as antique. Antique does not support ordering vanity tags.

Classic is ok for any use (including driving everyday), but does require an inspection. It also has the ability to order vanity tags.

Both eliminate the need for a front plate, and both are good for 5 years.

I have mine registered as antique as I had a few issues that wouldn't have passed inspection when I bought it (all fixed now).

Hi David, Jim Stanley here in KC MO. (Yeah Chiefs - sorry). I also have a 90 that I bought 3 years ago with 28,500 miles #2379. Its a great car and I have learned a lot. One of the most important things is to find decent mechanics. A local shop helped me with my AC. It turned out being a pressure cycling switch. They also put in a clutch kit which is working great. A year later I shipped my car to Marc Haibeck @ ZR-1 Specialist in Chicago area. You will see his name in many threads. He is the best and fixed many (normal ZR-1 issues) things for me including seat bolsters, speaker amplifiers, vacuum leaks, etc. He also fitted it with a performance chip. Feel free to contact me direct using the private email function. I would be happy to share all I know.
Take care,
Jim

Knew I forgot something. If you need a local shop to help with AC, Ace Car Care over in Plano is pretty familiar with C4s and ZR-1s (for basic maintenance). Of course, for a real expert, contact Steve at Crossed Flags Performance outside Houston, I would 100% recommend him for any ZR-1 work, and he's only a few hours away. Haibeck is a great option as well, but shipping to Chicago from DFW is a little expensive (found that out sending mine up to Pete for my 391 build).

I am pretty sure I do have an AC issue. Going to look at it myself using the Service Manual in the hope that it is something easily corrected. If not I will reach out ACE since summer is coming.

Am also going to order new tires as the ones on the car appear to be more than 10 years old. I should have looked at them before purchasing but never even thought of it.
