LED foglight replacements - Page 6 - ZR-1 Net Registry Forums

Sorry to bump an old thread...have been reading up on LED conversion threads on here ad nauseum (making my brain hurt), even dropped by the ZR-1 tent at Carlisle to see a coupla cars with the conversion. Driving LilRed at night with this 1994 'candlelight technology' has become less than ideal lol.

Anyway, I was wondering if anyone has installed this fog lamp kit. They claim to be plug & play/won't melt the housings...I have an email in to the company to ask if they're error-free/internally-resisted, as well if they work with the stock wiring (I know that the fogs and high beams share a circuit) but have not heard back yet:

I really need something that is plug & play/won't require hacking up the wiring...without getting into things on here, my health just isn't up for complex modding anymore and I'm an electrical idiot besides.

Front and rear marker light should work fine. Driving lights(fog light), I am not so sure.
I tried 2 different LED driving light replacement bulbs and was not impressed. I ended up going to HID lamps for driving lights. I can use my driving lights alone at night and enough light to drive. Below is a link to my old post.

Hi Yun!

I don't really need the fog lights to be bright, I just need them to work (as well as match LEDS on rest of car when done)...I just use them so others here in SUV-Land can see me in their blind spots, and primarily use the headlights to be able to see while driving at night. In fact, I saw your Trucklite headlights at Carlisle and think I want to go with them for my headlights, and adding the resistor that appears to be needed from the other threads on here I read.

Like I said, I'd rather not cut the stock wiring/avoid other wiring wizardry (that I'm not entirely sure I'm capable of). Was hoping to find some plug & play kits as an alternative to all that, but maybe I'm looking for a purple squirrel (?)

(This from a HOTB article I wrote after installing LEDs on my car) There are a couple ways to go when installing (Trucklite) LED headlights, and one is very simple and the other requires crawling under the dash and modifying the FOGLIGHT wiring. Easier by far is the LOAD RESISTOR option.

You simply install the preassembled (and connectorized) load resistor in series with the (Trucklite) LED assembly and secure it to the internal headlight cage assembly (I used zip ties). See photos)

I chose the "Larsen" projector LED headlights and am extremely pleased with them. But, LED applications are evolving and will be for some time to come. So, it pays to shop around!

Another simple solution I found is to remove passenger side hush panel (below the dashboard), pull the fog light relay (one closest to the door), bend the grounding leg (opposite side of the door) side ways and then up, thread a wire through the hole on the leg (most if not all relay legs have a hole) and solder the wire, ground the wire on 10 mm nut up and right side, close to the door.
Mod can be undone later (if necessary) by simply replacing the relay.
