Default ZR-1 Road Trip to Newfoundland & Labrador Canada

Lyndi and I are on our way to Canada heading for a final destination in Newfoundland and Labrador. We have planned a 28 day, 5100 mile trip, getting back to Westminster just in time for Corvettes at Carlisle.

The first part of the trip will take us to Niagara Falls, Toronto, Ottawa, Montreal, Quebec, Prince Edward Island, and Nova Scotia:

We will take a ferry across from Nova Scotia to Newfoundland. While we are there we will take a ferry over to Labrador, visit Gander and St John's, then take a ferry back to Nova Scotia:

The final phase of the road trip will take us to Acadia National Park and the Delaware Water Gap National Recreation Area:

We hope you will join us for the ride.

Jim and Lyndi

On Tuesday morning we left Westminster, Maryland heading to Erie, Pennsylvania. For this trip, we are the most organized we have ever been. The trip preparations went smoothly and I am confident that we will have an enjoyable trip. Since this is only a ~5,000 mile trip, we will be doing more sight seeing and less days of long hours of driving.

The departure pic from our home. Lyndi is accepting volunteers to pull weeds while we are gone.

We crossed Pennsylvania heading northwest to Erie, PA. Along the way we enjoyed beautiful scenes of Pennsylvania farms and the rolling hills of the Alleghany Mountains:

Our first stop was Penn State University, my alma mater.

Here is the dorm that I lived in for 2 years, top floor second from the right:

The dorm rooms seemed a lot smaller than I remember and I was flashing back to being a freshman again:

to be continued......

We visited the Student Book Store and I found some great study aids:

Any visit to Penn State has to include a visit to the Creamery for an ice cream cone:

Continuing northwest, we stopped in Mercer, PA for a nice visit with Mike and Betty, Corvette enthusiasts who we met on the Mountain Run 4.

When we arrived in Erie we found a Tuesday Evening Cruise In. We parked next to a nice red 1993 convertible and enjoyed looking at the cars:

We drove out to Presque Isle for a view of Lake Erie. There is a wonderful State Park and views of the Lake were beautiful:

Jim, your return trip takes you right through my backyard in Concord NH. Let me know if there is anything you need while in the area, be it a garage to work on your car, a hot meal, or a quick beer along the road.
Safe travels, and as always, thanks for taking us along. - Steve

Safe travels to you and Lyndi, Jim. Like the rest of the Brotherhood, Linda and I will are looking forward to your log. With both of us having been raised in Newfoundland and Labrador, we'll be looking even more closely at the photos than usual. Glad you were able to drop in on Betty and Mike - class people!

Very excited to see this post, Jim. Your trips and associated tales are always inspiring and fun to read. That purple ZR-1 is so photogenic, to boot! Looking forward to the coming updates. Safe travels!

Jim & Lyndi
You guys will love Quebec City!
When you get to the MA/NH border, you might consider going a few miles into MA to Essex
(Rt133) and check out Woodman's for lunch. They invented the fried clam!
Have a safe trip!
