Guys most techs are off.
With 4.10's 3rd gear should be 100 @ 7k, 4th gear 130

stock 3.45 3rd @ 7k = 120, 4th @ 7k = 150

If you wanna see how off your tech is just stay on it till you hit the rev limiter stock limiter is set at 7200.

That's why you install a shift light. forget watching the tach. I'd go through
the traps at ~ 118+ in 3rd w tach showing 7k. 3.45 gear.

Lance, I'm jealous that you can still drive the car this time of year.

We have nearly a foot of snow on the ground and about 2" of salt on the roads :censored:

The best I could do today was fire it up and pull it out of the garage.

I understand that...it's 42 here over my morning latte and toast and drizzling. Rain on and off all day but we finished last year 7" shy of normal rain for the fourth year in a row of drought and water restrictions. I actually want some cold weather to kill some outside bugs with freeze.

We lived in Illinois on and off for some time so am familiar with that white stuff, pot holes and all the rest.

Good luck...get a snow type jet ski if you live in all that white stuff. They mostly use sand on the roads here rather than salt which is much better for the cars though I don't drive the vettes on rainy days...only cars I've ever had that get washed after each use!

Happy New Year.

I'm also astonished at how virtually non existent any zr-1 badging is on the car save one on the right rear. I am experimenting with vinyl letters on each side of the front corner of the rear bubble glass to see if something can lightly enhance it. This is the first set, will perhaps end up with 1" shorter letters. The second set is en route and the letters are white with a red shadow while this set is black with a red shadow. I may have one last set made as a pair then remove these and replace with smaller. Just experimenting and my impression is these are too tall and slightly too big at this point. Will see what the others look like. A set of two vinyl letters which adhere to the glass is $10 so it isn't a big experiment.

Just for what ever it's worth. May or may not keep any of them on there. The advantage of the glass is that it's easy to add or subtract and all on the outside and then adds a little badging to the side of the car.

I can't imagine driving these cars in snow over an inch...the power would barely be managable with posi and then the air dam down low would make it a snow plow in 7" of snow for less than a block I'd guess. My 76 does okay in 3-5" of snow but they are both more or less sunny day cars for me. I don't even put the t tops in the 76 ever. This summer I'll take the top out of the ZR-1 as well as I like to have the open feeling around and above me.

Snow, what exactly is that? My snowblower is sitting in the building in back waiting, waiting, waiting...last year I never even usd it with a 1" snowfall once or twice that melted a day later.

Lance,
The PO of mine put a badge on the hood under the corvette emblem and one on each side of the rear part of the hood. Nice to have a "sleeper" and watch the others mouth drop open when you hammer it down.

I found this in my ZR-1 file. Marc Haibeck is apparently the author, and should shine some light on speed vs. rpm vs. differential gear - as it pertains to standard tire/wheel size of the ZR-1 (only).

However....As others have said, if shift points are important, then a shift light is the way to go. And, I would say that is true whether you drag race or not; just good to dial in the best shift point on the light, and end the guess work.

Just sayin...;)

Love that 338 number!!! Great stuff for bench racing!
How much HP would it take to pull 7500 in 6th gear?
