95ZR1#418 08-07-2005 01:21 AM

Just wanted to say, my '95 still has no sign of delamination. Strange to say the least, I wonder how many others don't have it?

Mine dosent have any delam either.

But it was already replaced with a normal Vette windshield :)

Mine does not have any delamination either and as far as I know it is the original windshield.

None here either and it IS the original one.

Too bad about the deal! Thanks for trying, though

Carter, isnt' EVERYTHING original and stock on that car of yours?

I sure wish there WAS a solution to the windshield issue. I'm running a non-ZR-1 windshield. The price was right (under $300 installed), but the  factor is just not there. :(

Is there any way to try to put this deal through again now? Maybe things have changed...sure would be nice to have new glass.

=D> I'll take one or 2 if it will help push it along

Re: ZR-1 Windshields

I have a question. Is the impetus about getting windshields that look correctish for cheap? Or just getting ones that are good (a final replacement) and won't eventually delaminate?

Back when LOF was making ZR-1 windshields, GM was using a similar glass made by PPG in the Lumina APV windshield. It has the same metallic/neat tint look to it, had a cut-out, and served the same purpose as far as blocking heat/UV. However, I don't believe they suffered from delamination problems.

I can't speak for anyone else, but I for one would be more interested in a quality/US made replacement that looked and functioned the same but didn't fail in the $1500-2000 range (same price as LOF ones that will probably fail eventually or have already started failing) than I would be in a cheap chinese made windshield that merely looked similar with tint/cutout.

Just two cents, if even that. Though I've no idea if PPG would do a limited run of ZR-1 windshields. But if they still make Lumina APV replacement ones, I doubt those move in big quanities, maybe they could do it on the same scale?

Re: ZR-1 Windshields

I know Dave has worked on this , and I took time to see if it could be done, but ran into a brick wall. Aside from the cost, it seems that safety issues prevent special runs from aftermarket companies, and LOF has no interest in even listening to our problems.
