Re: Tools to Carry in the ZR-1

Cliff,

Thanks for posting the tool list ... this is very helpful. Couple of questions, though ...
  • It seems that the 1/4" socket set is primary. Do you use the 3/8" wrench and 1/4" socket adapters or do you have the necessary 3/8" sockets?
  • the flex head ratchets ... are 12mm & 14mm needed? where?
  • tire repair ... yes, I carry one also. what about an inflator (like the ZO6)?
  • what about a serpentine belt? and wrench?
  • side terminal battery wrench? or is this covered with one of the other wrenches?

Still much to learn on my part but I'm trying to remember if I've ever used much more than 8mm, 10mm, 13mm, 15mm sockets. I like the way you layer the tools in the two storage compartments. Ever consider carrying the oil in the front of the engine compartment (left or right side)? or is that not a good idea? I think that if it leaked it would be easier to clean up the inside of the fender area rather than the storage compartments.

I also carry a 12v compressor tire plug kit and a small tube of hand cleaner.

  • the flex head ratchets ... are 12mm & 14mm needed? where? Complete Set with the 14mm used for Oil Changes :)
  • tire repair ... yes, I carry one also. what about an inflator (like the ZO6)? Prolly a good idea
  • what about a serpentine belt? and wrench? I think I will toss in a 3/8 to 1/2 adapter which the 1/2 inch will fit the Belt Tensioner.
  • side terminal battery wrench? or is this covered with one of the other wrenches? I have the 8mm combination ratchet which I think will loosen the side terminal bolts.

You are probably correct on the oil location but the AMSOIL 10w-40 plastic bottles are substantial and never had a leak yet :handshak:

The hand cleaner is a great idea as I do have all the Red Rags I need to go with the hand cleaner ;)

There may be room under or next to the AMSOIL for this 12 volt portable air compressor or something like it.

I have added and subtracted a couple tools behind the seats.

Forgot to mention this cool Tire Pressure Gauge in the Center Console
I keep the tire pressures around 30 psi.

The only tools I carry in the car are the tools to remove the spoiler and a new tow strap to be used to get it on the back of a flatbed truck for a tow.

You also need a come-a-long or winch and a Tow Trucks that have flat beds all have winches and a tow strap. So......I just saved you having to carry a tow strap.

You also have to figure out where to connect the Tow Truck Tow Strap to the front of your ZR1 :p

Oh....I guess you removed the spoiler so now what ;)

The tow strap will either go around the cross member or the factory tie down loop at the frame, I hope.
